Priyanka Malhotra is the Managing Trustee of Nipman Foundation and Director HRD at Nipman Fastener Industries.
Her personal experiences and the challenges she faced as the mother of a son with a disability inspired her to gain skills and work in the disability sector. She founded Nipman Foundation in 2012, a non-profit organisation which works to provide health and education facilities to people with disabilities and the underprivileged. Nipman Foundation has a crowdfunding website, Wheels for Life that allows individuals to donate money for wheelchairs needed by PwD’s so that they become self-employed and live an independent life.
The Foundation has done various projects in association with SIAM and CII, being their official partner for the Goodwill Day at the biannual auto expo. The Foundation also organizes the annual Nipman Foundation – Microsoft Equal Opportunity Awards that recognize organisations encouraging the Employment of Persons with Disabilities.
A trained access auditor, Priyanka has led the team in carrying out accessibility audits of the Delhi Metro, Serendipity Arts Festival, Rajghat, Tihar, Rohini & Mandoli Jails and more.
In 2015, Priyanka presented a report titled ‘Disabled Friendly Railways’ to the Railway Board Restructuring Committee chaired by Dr Bibek Debroy. She has also worked with the Election Commission to make the electoral process disabled friendly. She was awarded the Karamveer Award 2015 for ‘Best Social Entrepreneur’ by The International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) for her commendable work in education and disability.
Priyanka is currently a member of the Inner Wheel Club, Gurgaon and was a member of Inner Wheel Club, Noida for twenty years before that. At Inner Wheel Club, Noida she served as the Vice President, was the founder of the club bulletin ‘Our Vision’ and was it’s editor ten times. She is currently the editor of Navdeep, the Rotary Club, Noida’s publication.
Priyanka is an alumnus of The Lawrence School, Sanawar and Punjab University. She has a post-graduate degree in Counselling Psychology from Amity University.
